The coaching that is delivered by Northants Recreational Cricket is broken into different Categories and Phases. This part of the website looks at the Age Group and Programme specific coaching.
Winter Coaching Programme
During October and November we offer a Winter Coaching programme for Junior cricketers which is open to all.
Northants Recreational Cricket is pleased to announce the return of its “Steeler Summer Camps” for boys and girls aged 8-14. Each three day course will be planned and delivered by Northants Cricket’s fully qualified professional coaches, and will be taking place throughout the county through the summer holidays, catering for Children between the ages of 8 and 14 each player booked onto a camp will receive:
• A goody bag containing exciting summer camp & Northants themed goodies
• A Steeler Summer Camp T-Shirt
• A free family ticket to the Vitality t20Blast game between the Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Worcestershire Rapids on the 30th of August. All participants will be asked to select Hard or Soft ball specialisation.
Both options will include skills development, competition and fun activities, with contingency for wet weather, and will include a visit from Steeler himself. Each camp is strictly limited to 40 participants and will be £65 for the three days, so book now to avoid disappointment. Players wanting to specialise in Hard Ball activity are asked to bring their own Bat, pads & gloves (plus abdominal protector for boys). Softball participants will not require kit, although those that have their own are encouraged to bring it along. All players will need to bring their own lunch and water bottle.

County Age Group Coaching
Northants Recreational Cricket is responsible for all non-professional representative cricket played by Northamptonshire, and as such runs County Age Group teams for Girls (from Under 11 up to Under 17) and Boys (Under 10 to Under 17). Indoor training for these squads will last from approximately December to March. Inclusion in these programmes is by nomination only. Programme Specific Coaching
Programme specific coaching includes the Emerging Player Programmes, Junior Centre of Excellence and Specialised Skill Set programme. Skill Set programmes, where open to the public, will be advertised via this site when available
