All Stars Cricket launches in Northamptonshire

Wednesday evening saw the County Ground hosting the very first regional roadshow in support of the new All Stars Cricket programme.

All Stars Cricket is an ECB nationwide programme that is designed to inspire five- to eight-year-olds to take up cricket and provide a great first experience of the game.

20 clubs from Northants were joined by a small number of representatives from Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire to receive presentations from Scott Borman and Laura Joyce from the ECBs regional team outlining how the new program will work for clubs and participants. The evening was introduced by Northants Recreational Cricket’s chairman, with special guest Alex Wakely emphasising the commitment of our County Cricket Club in lending their support to the initiative.

Putting fun right at the centre of this experience, All Stars Cricket aims to instil children with a lifelong love of our sport. We want today’s kids to remain in cricket for the long-term – whether that’s as players, volunteers, officials or spectators.

The presentation, which was a stripped down version of what a number of our clubs had seen at the National events at Nottingham, London and Birmingham, was well received, and there were a high number of clubs signed up on the night.
